Temples announced

This is the Logan temple, the temple that is closest to me now.

Yesterday during the Saturday session of General Conference, President Monson announced plans to build five new temples. Two of those temples mentioned are to be built in areas that Erick and I have lived: Kansas City and Philadelphia. I was so happy that I began crying.

I know that faithful members of our church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) in those areas have had to make huge sacrifices in order to attend the temple many hours away. I am so thankful for such blessings from the Lord.

Erick and I were married in the Bountiful temple, and I know that because of that, our family can be together forever. With a husband in the military, it brings me such peace to know that God loves his children and has a plan for us. If Erick's life is cut short, heaven forbid, I know that it will not be the end of our existence together; we will still be married, and we will be together again.

I'm particularly excited that they are building one in Rome, Italy! I served a mission in Italy and I know that this is an answer to the innumerous prayers of the faithful Italian saints. I'm so grateful for this news!

My husband also served in Italy about 10 years ago. It was a very hard mission with not a lot of outward success. He wasn't entirely surprised by the announcement because President Eyring promised the saints there that one day there would be one in Italy. He was excited though and thrilled that this prophecy had been fulfilled. It only shows how this work is going forward, even though 10 years ago it didn't seem quite possible.

I was VERY excited about the Kansas City temple too, especially! We lived there for 13 years, and I remember the fun trips to Dallas on the sleeper buses. I'm so glad.

And I loved the look on Pres. Monson's face when he announced Rome, and responded to the chuckling that went through the audience. :) Great stuff!

Tera- this is Chelsea Moore from the ward. Brigham and I were wondering where that gorgeous picture of the temple came from.

I just found the picture on flickr. I wish I had such amazing photography skills, but alas, I do not.
